Music from Outer Space

Basic Hip Digital Oddio has this really stellar album up. This is a 'must download' if you like your music with sound effects, Theremin, strings, and brass! This record has it all, including a kick-ass cover featuring what looks like a photo of the LAX Theme Building after the Reds drop one.

Planet Xtabay has a Baxter hat trick:

Da Suck 'Em Up Benjamin (a.k.a., The Hundred Dollar Mai Tai)

Yup folks, if you've been reading the papers, you know that the apocalypse is upon us. Even if it's not, what excuse do you need to luxuriate yourself in the best Mai Tai money can buy? So head on over to Beachbum Berry's Hundred Dollar Mai Tai page for a FREE recipe. And if you don't own a Grog Log...well, what are you waiting for?

Lyman-aid

When Arthur Lyman passed away in 2002 he was still playing small venues for those who knew where to find him. Unfortunately, by the time my wife and I tried to track him down at the Mandarin Oriental in Honolulu, the bird calls had been slienced.

Perhaps this is why I've been obsessively digging at Amoeba for any old LP that Arthur had even touched a vibraphone on. In the next couple o' days I'll be digitizing some Arthur that hasn't been available on CD.

Until I figure out a better way to host my MP3s, learn how to use rapidshare here.

And now ladies and gentlemen, I present to you -

POLYNESIA

SIDE A
Afro Blues
One Night In Tokyo
Waltzing Matilda
Malagueña Salerosa
Drifting Sampan
More

SIDE B
Polynesia
Bauna Toshi
Don't Rain On My Parade
Kamakani Kaili Aloha
Where Have All The Flowers Gone
Hawaii Tattoo

Trader Vic's Vinyl is under construction!

So, I've finally succumbed and have dug my little flag in the blogosphere. This blog will mostly be a Vinyl Sharity site where you will find out-of-print LPs of Exotica, Hawaiian, Latin Jazz and whatever weird vinyl is itching to be connected with like-minded folk. I'll also be scouring the internet and Vic's archives for cool Tiki shit to expose, as well as calling bullshit on the Tiki scammers.

Mahalo,
Trader Vic
